چکیده

Epidemiological studies have shown that HDL-C is negatively correlated with coronary arteriosclerosis . This is because HDL transports cholesterol from peripheral tissues to the liver, playing a major role in the system for reverse transport of cholesterol (RCT), and having an anti-arteriosclerosis action. The particle size, lipid content, and apolipoprotein components of HDL is heterogeneous. HDL is separated into large HDL2 molecules that have low density and small HDL3 molecules with high density . However, fractions of pre-β-HDL (lipid poor apo A-I) 6) and apolipoprotein E (apo E) rich HDL have also been reported, and it is not clear which fractions they correspond to. There is also much debate about the clinical significance of measuring HDL subfractions. Density gradient ultracentrifugation is the main method of isolating HDL2 and HDL3. Development of a homogeneous assay to measure remnant lipoprotein cholesterol.

BACKGROUND Quantification of triglyceride-rich lipoprotein (TRL) remnants is useful for risk assessment of coronary artery disease and the diagnosis of type III hyperlipoproteinemia. Although an immunoseparation procedure for remnant-like particle cholesterol has been evaluated extensively in recent years, available methods for measuring TRL remnants have not achieved wide use in routine labora...

Garlic powder, effect on plasma lipids, postprandial lipemia, low-density lipoprotein particle size, high-density lipoprotein subclass distribution and lipoprotein(a).

OBJECTIVES To test the hypothesis that a garlic supplement alters plasma lipoproteins, postprandial lipemia, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) size and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) subclass distribution differently in 50 moderately hypercholesterolemic subjects classified as LDL subclass pattern A or B. BACKGROUND Garlic has been variably reported to reduce or not affect plasma cholesterol valu...

Production and Characterization of Murine Monoclonal Antibodies Recognizing Conformational and Linear Epitopes Localized on Human IgA2 Molecules

Background: There are two subclasses of human IgA (IgA1 and IgA2) that differ in antigenic properties and in chemical composition. The constant domains of α1 and α2 heavy chains have >95% sequence homology though major structural differences exist in the hinge region. Quantitation of IgA subclass levels depends on the availability of monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) specific for conserved conformat...

The effects of niacin on lipoprotein subclass distribution.

Dyslipidemia is a heterogeneous metabolic condition; high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and very-low-density lipoprotein represent families of lipoprotein particles that differ in size and composition and vary in atherogenicity. Lipoprotein subclasses containing apolipoprotein B promote atherosclerosis, of which the most atherogenic appear to be the small, dense LDL ...

Plasma lipoproteins in normal and preeclamptic pregnant women

Background: Preeclampsia is one of the most common complications of pregnancy. It is the cause of high morbidity and mortality for mothers and fetuses, especially in developing countries. The etiology of preeclampsia is unknown. One of the hypothesis on pathophysiology of preeclampsia is dyslipidemia. The aim of this study was to determine maternal plasma levels of lipoproteins in patients with...
